Birthday's have always been big in our family, and I think that's the way it should be. I can always count on fun surprises from my family, a dinner out, thoughtful gifts and a creative party, which make the day spectacular. But I think it all stems from our mutual understanding that adding years to the ticker is a good thing. That every year milestone met means a new year has started. That we've been granted more time on this lovely planet by God. No one in my family is scared of growing old or older. We don't worry about crows feet, or laugh lines. We don't care that we may not have accomplished everything we thought we would by the latest age. We're just happy to be around, with the ones we love, celebrating something awesome: our birth! Growing up, Birthdays were always special, and they still are! For every member of the family. I teared up last night thinking of how lucky I am. How blessed I was 26 years ago to be born into the family I was given. To think that I looked up at my Mom, Dad and older Sister and probably had no idea just how lucky I really was at that moment. I certainly know now. :) And I will spend today amid those happy faces, proud to be a part of the family.
I recently joined the happy masses and bought an iPhone. So far I love it and have had fun looking for apps and discovering all the potential this mini-computer has to offer. It's been fun so far! One of my favorite apps is called Instagram and allows you to take photos and then add fun filters before sending them to Facebook or friends. I've been having a good ol' time taking old-timey photos around the yard! :)
My sister is still bent on learning the kite-boarding kite. I enjoy being her assistant, even if it means being dragged across a field, tangled in strings, and fearing for my life. One of these days we'll figure out how to yield the big dragon that is that kite. And then we can take to the water. :)
I've been so behind with my own little game this week! Whoops! Now we're already to Friday. And F is for....flowers! Below are a few favorites from my Mom's yard. I love how many shades of blue she has. :)
I have a passion for stories--especially those told through art and fashion. I am a crafter, jewelry designer and sewer. I cosplay and costume with a 1960s Singer machine, and read everything I can on late 19th and early 20th century design. I love to create and entertain. I believe the beauty is in the details.
